Meet Thirumathi Thamilachi Thangapandian MP in Edinburgh.

A prolific writer and poet, Thamizhachi has authored numerous Tamil volumes—such as Enjottu Penn, Vanapechi, and Manjanathi—as well as English works including Island to Island and Internal Colloquies. She transitioned into literature following her father’s death in 1997

Venturing into cinema, she penned lyrics for films such as Pisaasu and Paris Paris, and also contributed dialogue writing.

In Parliament, Thamizhachi has been an outspoken advocate for women’s reservation, gender justice, education reform, environmental protection in Chennai (like safeguarding the Pallikaranai marshland), and minority rights

Kallile Kalai Vannam

A wonderful announcement for the Tamil community residing in Edinburgh! In order to celebrate the artistic and cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu and to share intriguing and lesser-known insights about the Pallava period, the Edinburgh Tamil Sangam has organized a lecture by the archaeologist Mr. Madhusudhanan Kalaichelvan on 13th July.

Mr. Madhusudhanan Kalaichelvan is an architect, skilled orator, passionate heritage enthusiast, and a prolific speaker and researcher in the areas of art, architecture, heritage, cultural studies, religion, literature, and vernacular practices.
